Mental Health and Wellbeing

I am passionate about improving the mental health of others.  I have living experience of mental ill health and over the years have learned how to better manage my anxiety and depression. With my ups and downs I know that there are lots of go-to things that help me. Plenty of gardening time when I can, and time in the woods with my dog really helps. Taking time to be still with my breath, ground and connect to the earth is also crucial for me.  A piece of cake every now and again also lifts the soul! And spending time with my circle of friends who make me feel good about me helps too. Spadgie, Kristy, Liz, Mel, Cath, Jayne, Rachel, Luke and Scott, thank you for standing around me when I need your support and friendship, laughter and love.

I trained with Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) England in 2018 and I have trained over 500 Mental Health First Aiders (MHFAider®)  so far. I truly believe that this course saves lives. Being able to have the most important conversation you can ever have with someone is possible with the learning on the course.  I support the charity Andy’s Man Club and I spread the word wherever I go that it is #OKAYTOTALK. • Practical, Relevant, and Reassuring

Sarah delivered the course with exceptional sensitivity and thoroughness. She created a supportive and reassuring learning environment where there was ample time for questions, reflection, and discussion. Throughout the session, she helped remove any anxieties or uncertainties about what to say or how to respond in challenging situations, making the content feel accessible and manageable. She ensured that the tools and techniques we learned were practical, usable, and relevant to our roles. The resources she provided were extensive and thoughtfully chosen, all tailored to the local area, which really strengthened my confidence in knowing where to signpost and who to contact during times of crisis. Overall, Sarah made the training highly informative, engaging, and genuinely empowering.

  • I would not hesitate to recommend Sarah and this course to others

Sarah was welcoming and very knowledgeable, she put us all at immediate ease and was extremely approachable. The pace and content was well timed and Sarah used various tools to suit all different styles of learning to ensure that we understood the content. Sarah was mindful to ensure we were all comfortable and we were able to check in should we needed to during the course if we felt that he content was triggering. The setting was extremely welcoming and relaxing and I would not hesitate to recommend Sarah and this course to others. I was in a position where I had to use some of the strategies taught to my by Sarah only two days after I completed the course and I felt very confident in my abilities to help the young person in question.
